Our story

Immanuel Anglican Church is a new church, but also not new. We were initially planted as Trinity Eastside Parish by Trinity Anglican Church on the westside of Atlanta. Trinity was founded in 2002 out of the Vineyard Church but soon after its launch began to find a home in more contemplative and liturgical streams. In 2010 Trinity Vineyard officially became an Anglican church, seeking to embody three streams of historic Christian practice: Charismatic, Evangelical, and Liturgical.

In 2014, the Eastside Parish was planted by Trinity with the vision of being a local expression of the mission, values, and culture of Trinity on the eastside of Atlanta. For more than six years, Trinity Westside walked alongside the Eastside Parish, supporting this new church with resources, staffing, and pastoral oversight. As the Eastside matured and grew in complexity, the lead pastors of the Westside and Eastside began to pray about what was next for Trinity’s parish model.

With a lot of excitement and joy, Trinity announced in January 2021 that on May 23rd of the same year the Eastside Parish would “graduate” into their own self-governed Anglican Church under a new name, Immanuel Anglican Church. Immanuel will remain in close relationship with Trinity and its leaders through an emerging network of churches. Rather than seeing Immanuel’s launch in 2021 as the beginning of something brand new, it’s instead the continuation of a nearly two-decade long story of faithful presence in Atlanta.
